Date: Dates to be set for Autumn 2010 or otherwise by demand. Previous ERDAS seminar held March 2010.
Time: TBA
Venue: Compass Informatics Office, Blackrock, Co. Dublin - Served by Train, Bus, Dublin Airport buses
Agenda
ERDAS 2010 Introduction - New Look ERDAS Imagine 2010 including ERMapper
ERDAS IMAGINE 2010 is now available and the new ribbon interface gives it an updated look and feel as well as providing easier access to the array of functionality that exists in the software -including incorporation of .alg and image compression in one package.
To be demonstrated during the seminar:
Ø ERDAS enabling Feature Extraction – As high resolution airborne and satellite data improves in quantity and quality the tools to extract (automatically and semi-automatically) take steps forward.
Ø ERDAS enabling 3D Visualisation - For every application from simple public presentations through to real world risk assessment, we are utilising the constant improvement in 3D handling tools.
Ø Examples will be shown of:
§ Aerial imagery used for building extraction and land cover classification in ERDAS Imagine
§ LIDAR data for building extraction and 3D modelling production flows
§ Height and imagery in windfarm planning
§ Building and imagery for line of site analysis in urban areas

ERDAS APOLLO
As the drive towards OGC Compliance speeds up (not to mention SDI and INSPIRE), and with web services being used increasingly throughout the world for geo-data delivery, APOLLO keeps one step ahead with its ability to not only catalogue and deliver WMS, WFS but also work with data across a network and the web using WCS and WPS services (for more advanced data transformation and modelling).
Ø Working and running multiple process models on the same static dataset enables geo data production and map delivery to be refined, and drastically reduces the cost of image and map management.
Ø Examples will be shown of:
§ Gigabytes of image delivery across thin networks
§ Vector Editing across the web via WFS and WFS-T service
§ Publishing of spatial models to the web via WPS, working in the ‘cloud’

Google Earth Enterprise
The ability for organisations to deploy their own Google Earth Enterprise is now possible as Google have made available, through Infoterra’s software unit (Compass partners), the ability to deploy this capability within their own networks.
Ø Learn about what Google Earth could do for your organisation, with your data and for your users.
Ø Example will be shown of:
§ Google Earth Enterprise deployed on an internal network with mapping and data deployed for use across an organisation.
