GIS & Data Management Training
Compass Informatics provide a range of custom training courses in GIS and data management skills. These courses are run from our Dublin offices, or can by agreement by run on-site with client organisations.
We typically restrict classes to six persons for each GIS course. VAT is not applicable to training. Training is undertaken in the Compass training room and includes training notes/manual. A light lunch is provided.

Two day introductory course focusing on applications of GIS in the agred application area (e.g. land & asset management, environmental management, natural resources, planning) and includes use of key national datasets and problem solving exercises. At the end of this course users will be able to for example query and symbolise data, join map data to other tabular data, spatial analyse including buffering, output production quality maps.
Intermediate ArcGIS
2 day introductory course focusing on applications of GIS in environmental management and natural resources and includes use of key national datasets and problem solving exercises. It includes elements of the introductory course, covered at a more advanced level, coupled with data management and model building. Assumes prior completion of the introductory course or a solid background in GIS usage in ArcGIS or a similar GIS. Maximum 6 persons allowed on the course.
Mobile mapping & GPS
A one day course that presents the use of GPS-enabled mobile mapping systems for field data capture. The course covers principles of GPS/GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems); an overview of available GPS units; and practical training in data capture forms creation and field use. The day finishes with integration of field captured data into a GIS. The GPS used is Magellan Mobile Mapper CX and MobileMapper 6.
