[Event Recap] Insights from the NAVISP PNT Workshop

Last week, Pallavi Prasad (Project Manager) had the pleasure of attending the NAVISP workshop in Dublin, organised by Enterprise Ireland.

This event proved to be a valuable source of knowledge and networking opportunities, delving deep into the exciting realm of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) matters in Ireland.

NAVISP provided the opportunity to interact with a diverse array of PNT companies and institutions in Ireland.

Ireland’s PNT Standpoint and Beyond

Beyond gaining insights into Ireland’s current involvement and standpoint on PNT, the workshop provided a fertile ground for exchanging ideas and exploring the intersection of cutting-edge technologies within this domain.

Sensor Fusion Takes Center Stage at NAVISP

A key focus area for many received much attention. Discussions revolved around how seamlessly integrating data from various sensors can enhance the accuracy and reliability of PNT systems, a crucial aspect for connected, cooperative, and automated vehicles (CCAVs).

PNT and Autonomy – Hand in Hand for the Future of Mobility

The link between PNT and autonomy was also prominently discussed. With the ongoing quest for self-driving vehicles, robust and precise PNT capabilities are paramount.

The workshop shed light on how advancements in AI and machine learning are playing a pivotal role in developing these capabilities, allowing for more intelligent and adaptable navigation systems.

Geospatial Data – Paving the Way for Intelligent Navigation

The utilisation of geospatial data – another core strength of Compass Informatics – featured prominently as well.

Attendees explored how incorporating geospatial data into PNT systems can significantly enhance their performance, enabling CCAVs to not only determine their location precisely but also understand their surroundings, anticipate potential hazards, and make informed decisions.

The event played a crucial role in enhancing collaboration and advancing the PNT ecosystem in Ireland.

Overall, the NAVISP workshop presented a unique opportunity to engage with industry leaders, academics, and fellow PNT enthusiasts.

The exchange of knowledge and diverse perspectives fuelled stimulating discussions on the current challenges and future possibilities within this rapidly evolving field.

At Compass Informatics, we remain committed to playing a proactive role in shaping the future of PNT technology.

By leveraging our expertise in sensor fusion, geospatial data analysis, and AI/machine learning, we aim to contribute to the development of robust, secure, and intelligent PNT solutions that pave the way for a safer, more efficient, and autonomous future.
